Pope continues recovery in Vatican, weekly General Audience confirmed

Pope Leo XIV is continuing his post-operative recovery in the Apostolic Palace and will hold his General Audience on Wednesday morning, October 21.

The Holy See Press Office provided this health update on Monday, following the Pope's surgery for pulmonary adenocarcinoma on October 13.

He was discharged from Rome’s Gemelli Hospital on Saturday, October 17, after five days in hospital. 

The Pope appeared at the window of the Apostolic Palace on Sunday to greet the 15,000 people gathered in St Peter’s Square to welcome him and show their affection and support.

The Holy See Press Office said the Pope will hold his Wednesday General Audience this week in St. Peter's Square. 

No further details are available at this stage, including whether Pope Leo will make his customary tour among the crowds in the popemobile.
